For years I have been a huge fan of NBA star and Jazz Bass player Wayman Tisdale. Here is a man that left a very lucrative career as an NBA star for the unknown world as a musician. And thank god he did. The world was truly blessed by his music.

I read an interview between Tisdale and another great bass player, Marcus Miller. Marcus said if you really want to stand out, people have to know who you are within the first few notes. And that is exactly what Tisdale did. I can almost always tell his songs just by the style. He truly made it his own.

Wayman passed away today after battling cancer. He was a gentle giant. And while I never had a chance to see him play live, I will always cherish his music, and share it with as many people as I can.
